Constance Will Attend 'Lesbian Prom' in SF; Students Create Hateful FB Page

After all the discriminatory treatment at the hands of her fellow Mississippi high school classmates and their parents, lesbian senior Constance McMillen will finally dance with her girlfriend. McMillen was sent to a "fake prom." After all the prom debauchery and discriminatory treatment at the hands of her fellow Mississippi Itawamba high school classmates and their parents, Constance McMillen will finally get the chance to dance with her girlfriend.

The 18-year-old senior was sent to a "fake prom" along with seven other students last week after she and the ACLU suedher Mississippi school over a ban on same-sex prom dates.

According to theAP, McMillen now plans on attending an anniversary soiree held by the National Center for Lesbian Rights in San Francisco on May 1.

NCLR Executive Director Kate Kendell said the event is often referred to as the "lesbian prom." Nearly 2,000 people are expected to attend the celebration in San Francisco.

Also attending the "lesbian prom" is Mississippi student Ceara Sturgis who fought to wear a tuxedo in her yearbook photo.

Kendell said the NCLR plans to pay for McMillen's travel and give her "a weekend she'll never forget. It will make all these other proms and fake-proms fade into distant memory." The organization is also paying for Sturgis.

"With everything Constance has been through at her school over the past few weeks, we're grateful for any chance to remind her that while her school violated her rights, she's appreciated and respected all over the country for her fight to be treated equally," Kendell wrote in a blog posted Thursday.

Irate over having their original prom canceled - and blaming McMillen - Itawamba high school students started a facebook page called "Constance quit yer cryin."

The first post reportedly read "Seriously, you've pretty much eff'd up your fellow classmate's best memory of High School."

However, the page has since been taken over by McMillen's supporters, who have flooded the wall with supportive posts chastising the page's creators and some of the early comments made by evildoers.
