Three LGBT Charities vie for $1M Grant

Facebook has teamed up with Chase Bank to donate millions of dollars to small and local charities chosen and voted on by users. One million dollars goes to the winning charity - The Trevor Project, The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and the Matthew Shepard Foundation made the cut to the final 100 charities and will receive $25,000 each.

Three LGBT charities need your help ... but not in the way you might think.  They need you to vote for them before January 22 in the Chase Community Giving: You Decide What Matterscampaign.

In November Chase, as in the bank, and Facebook, as in the social networking site, joined hands to do something good for the world.

Facebook users were asked to choose from more than 500,000 small and local charitiesto decide which organizations they want to receive donations totaling millions of dollars from the Chase corporate philanthropy fund.

The Trevor Project, The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and the Matthew Shepard Foundation made the cut to the final 100 charities and will receive $25,000 each.

Here’s where you come in... the charity that receives the most votes in this group of 100 will get $1 million and the top five runners-up will receive $100,000 each.

"Every year, our company donates more than $100 million to non-profit organizations in local communities, nationally and abroad, and our employees dedicate countless hours of their own time to helping those in need," said Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co. "The grassroots nature of Facebook will allow us to hear directly which local charities matter most to our communities, hopefully creating an even bigger impact."

More than 1 million fans signed up for Round One of the program, which ended December 12. Eligible charities included 501(c)(3) charities with an operating budget of $10 million or less, serving the general public in designated areas.

Visit the Facebook Chase Community Giving siteto cast your vote before January 22. And let’s add one of our charities to the top of the list!
