Emma Roberts is fanning the flames when it comes to the rumors surrounding one of her besties, Lea Michele.

The American Horror Story star appeared on Watch What Happens Live! this week, and responded to a caller’s question about seeing Michele perform as Fanny Brice on Broadway.

“I saw her in Funny Girl and I was crying at the end,” she said. “And she looked at me, and I said to my friend, I’m like, ‘I think she saw me!’ and my friend’s like, ‘Emma, she didn’t see you, shut up.’ And then I go backstage and she’s like, I saw you!’”

Roberts went on to call Michele “so down to earth and so talented,” adding that she deserves all the praise she’s gotten for stepping onto the stage in this particular iconic role.

But it was the second part of the question that made a real splash.

Michele and Roberts became good friends while working on the short-lived but absolutely hilarious horror comedy series Scream Queens back in 2015. Considering their friendship, the caller wanted to know if there were any misconceptions the general public had about the former Glee star — to which host Andy Cohen, of course, brought up the ongoing joke(?) that Michele can’t read.

“I mean, we’ve not been in a book club together,” Roberts admitted.

Yep, this joke is not going anywhere, anytime soon. Hopefully, Lea is laughing along with us.
