Kyle Viljoen didn’t just steal the hearts of Below Deck MediterraneanBelow Deck Mediterranean fans this season, it seems he’s found his Mr. — actually, make that Dr. Right — and has announced that he’s engaged.
Viljoen shared the news on his Insta along with photos of the proposal, including one of him down on his knee asking his then-boyfriend, Dr. Zachary Riley, to marry him, followed by images of them hugging after the big moment. It was a beautiful moment only enhanced by its Table Mountain setting outside Cape Town, South Africa.
“11/08/2022 He said YES!” wrote Viljoen in the caption. “Zachary & I are officially engaged and to my universe I want to thank you for loving me unconditionally, desirably, and with full intent to be my forever and always.
“We have walked a rocky but loving road, you have made my heart full and I found home in not materialistic things but in my soul you have your place! Flying to South Africa on Table Mountain was the point I wanted to scream highest to say we have our place in this universe and surrounded by his and my family was a sacred energy that we could only have wished for and more.”
It’s exactly the kind of happy ending fans hoped would happen for the die-hard romantic, who shared his heartbreaking romantic past on the hit Bravo series, along with a short but sweet romance with a charter guest, Frank Fay, during the season.
Fans first learned of Viljoen’s and Riley’s romance when he opened up about it on an episode of Watch Watch Happens Live. “Right now, I am taken,” he revealed. “I am so happy. That is my loving boyfriend. He’s a really good man. He’s a doctor, he’s a physical therapist, he knows how to work the hands.”
Since then, the two have been adorable all over Viljoen’s social media with posts of them hitting up pumpkin patches and celebrating Riley’s birthday together.
When Viljoen shared the news, his co-stars were quick to show support in the comments.
“Congratulations!!” wrote Captain Sandy Yawn.
“Congratulations angel boys! So happy for you both,” added lead deckhand Courtney Veale.
“This makes my heart so full. I can’t wait to be your best man, lots of love,” added Viljoen’s chief stew, Natasha Webb.
There’s no word yet on when the two will be tying the knot, but we couldn’t be happier to see them sail away into the sunset together.
