Here's Why Fans Think Bucky Is Bisexual in Falcon & the Winter Soldier

Is Marvel trying to tell us something???

Wait a minute...did Marvel Studios just...hint at Bucky Barnes being canonically bisexual? Well, that's what some people online are thinking, at least...

In the first episode of the Disney+ original MCU miniseries Falcon & the Winter Soldier, Bucky (played by heartthrob and I, Tonya alum Sebastian Stan) is trying to live a normal civilian life, doing normal civilian things. One of those things includes getting back into the dating scene, and while on a date with a bartender named Leah, he reveals that, since he's rusty when it comes to the love department, he's put himself on the Dating Apps™.

Now, the reason people think Marvel is hinting at Bucky's bisexuality is that, during his date with Leah, Bucky makes a comment about how, while on the apps, he's noticed a lot of people with profile pictures featuring tigers. Apparently, since men are more likely to have profile pics featuring tigers, fans have surmised that Bucky is perusing both men and women while on the apps and are hopeful that this is Marvel Studios' way of working being queer into Bucky's storyline.

We know it seems like it's grasping at straws, but considering how Marvel Studios has still yet to give fans meaningful, authentic, and explicit LGBTQ+ representation in its numerous films and TV shows, we can't blame fans for wanting such a beloved character to be canonically queer, especially since he already has a long, long history of being shipped with Captain America (played by Chris Evans).

So will we ever get to see Bucky's queerness confirmed on-screen? I guess we'll just have to keep watching to find out...

Falcon & the Winter Soldier is currently streaming on Disney+.
