Debbie Harry has come out as bisexual.
The rock singer and Blondie front woman spoke about her attraction to women in a recent interview with the Daily Mail.Although she did not provide names, Harry also confirmed that she had past affairs with women, whom she prefers in some aspects of her intimate life.
“Let’s say women are more sensual,” the “Heart of Glass” singer remarked while promoting her band’s 10th studio album, Ghosts of Download.
Harry, who had a long-term relationship with Blondie guitarist Chris Stein, also revealed that she is currently on the market. Although the Mail says that “her most enduring relationships have been with men,” the 68-year-old rock star is keeping her options open when it comes to the gender of a future partner.
“I don’t know if I have any specific requirements,” Harry said. “Just somebody nice, who has a good sense of humor and loves to have sex. What more could you ask for?”
The “Call Me” singer also spoke about Blondie’s refusal of an invitation to perform at the Sochi Winter Olympics, a decision that was in response to Russia’s antigay policies.
“Why make such a big thing out of a personal choice or a natural instinct? It seems barbaric and idiotic,” she said.
