The second verse probably relates to a lot of us: “I can’t think straight. I’m so gay. Sometimes I cry a whole day.”

The Seattle-born out musician, Mary Lambert, just released her single “Secrets” along with a fun new lyric video. The video is quirky, fun, and quite literally puts secrets out for the world to see by exposing her private diary’s raw details of life (being bi-polar, rocking mom jeans, passive-aggressiveness, sexuality, and challenging beauty standards). Lambert sings the chorus, “I don’t care if the world knows what my secrets are.” The song proclaims self-empowerment by telling the things that make us vulnerable.

“There is so much shame and guilt in our society, and I think it has deprived a lot of people from living fully,” Lambert said in a press release about the song, “We’re all facing battles. We’ve all had someone who has hurt us. So let’s talk about it.”

Lambert’s debut album, Heart On My Sleeve, is set to release October 14 with Capitol Records.
