A Twitter Search Party Helped Reunite Two Best Friends After 12 Years
We're totally not crying...
With our president spouting hateful nonsense on Twitter daily, it’s easy to be discouraged by the social media app and we often forget that some actual good can come from Twitter (it’s not only trolls spreading vitriol!).
Well, something pretty incredible happened this past weekend. Two young women who met on a cruise 12 years ago and fell out of touch were able to reconnect after years apart!
Brianna Cry, now a a student at Hampton University, met another young girl on a cruise in Hawaii back in 2006. Immediately, they became besties, but the girls weren’t able to exchange contact info before they disembarked.
Cry, 19, decided to find her long lost friend, and with nowhere to turn, took the most logical step. She posted a picture of the two of them from the ship, writing:
"Hey twitter, I met this girl on a dinner cruise in Hawaii in 2006. We were basically bestfriends for that night so I need y’all to help me find my bestfriend cause I miss her and I need to see how she’s doing now."

That’s when Twitter worked its magic.
Within 24 hours and about 91,000 retweets, Twitter user @heii_tree reached out, with possibly the coolest response.
“@briannacry Heard you were looking for me~”— B (@B) 1543050461
Bri was ecstatic, while @heii_tree joked that she hadn’t been on Twitter for ages, only to return to an entire search party looking for her!
“YALL I FOUND HER WTF!! TWITTER IS LITERALLY AMAZING”— B (@B) 1543091785
“Bruhhh it’s been literal years since I was last on Twitter and the first thing I see is a search party for my ass 😂😂😂”— sol (@sol) 1543091842
And needless to say, Twitter collectively lost its damn mind!
