The Upper House of the Argentine Senate is tackling a bill that would amend the country's civil code to allow gay marriage, the Buenos Aires Herald is reporting.

The country's lower house approved a gay marriage bill in May and a full vote in the Senate is expected on or before July 14.
Argentine President Christina Fernandez de Kirchner confirmed that she will not block the measure from becoming law if approved by legislators.

Leaders from the Federacion de Lesbianas, Gays, Bisexuales y Trans will be present during debate.
Reportedly, the bill has support from the leading caucuses, Victory Front's Miguel Angel Pichetto and Radical Gerardo Morales.
