The Los Angeles Dodgers will make baseball history by naming Sue Falsone as the first female head athletic trainer in Major League Baseball.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Falsone was also the league's first female physical therapist from 2008-2010. In 2011, she moved back to Arizona and acted as a team consultant during the most recent season. Prior to her work with the Dodgers, Falsone, 36, worked at the Athletes' Performance Institute in Arizona for a decade.

The current head trainer, Stan Conte, joined the Dodgers in 2006 after his tenure with the team's cross-state rival, the San Francisco Giants. He will remain with the team, though his role has not yet been defined, according to the MLB. Assistant trainer Todd Tomczyk and conditioning coach Brendon Huttman were hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates coaching staff earlier this month.
