Grey's AnatomyChandra Wilson and
The Big Bang TheoryJim Parsons have been chosen to announce the nominees for the
61st annual Primetime Emmy Awards, according to
Variety.
The duo will join Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chairman-CEO John Shaffner for the announcement scheduled to take place at 5:30 AM PST, July 16 at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in Hollywood.
The 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 13 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, a week earlier than previously scheduled - and will be broadcast live on CBS Television.
Originally slated for a September 20 airdate, the awards show was moved to the 13 due to the network's already scheduled September 20 NFL doubleheader. CBS executives were worried the game could bleed into primetime and delay the start of the award show.
The primetime Emmys traditionally air on the last Sunday before the start of the broadcast season. The last time the date for the show was moved up was in 2006, when host NBC pushed the ceremony to Aug. 27, before the season opener of its
Sunday Night Football.
Wilson has been nominated for three-straight Emmys for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series in her role as Dr. Miranda Bailey on
Grey's. She has also been awarded two SAG Awards and three NAACP Image Awards. Wilson will next play Mama Morton in the Broadway revival of
Chicago June 8-July 5.
Parsons is known for his role as supremo geek Sheldon Cooper on
The Big Bang Theory, which just wrapped season two on CBS and has been picked up for two more years.
The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 13 from 8-11 p.m. EST on CBS.
