The Top 10 Facebook Pages and Groups for Lesbians in 2010

From Ellen Degeneres and Jane Lynch to Constance and the ACLU, the following is a list that cannot be missed by all lesbians in the year 2010. There are far too many lesbian-associated groups and pages on Facebook to recite all of them, so we went ahead and chose ten that we thought you simply should not overlook. Log into your Facebook account and get ready to do some adding!

From Ellen Degeneres and Jane Lynch to Constance and the ACLU, the following is a list that cannot be missed by all lesbians in the year 2010. There are far too many lesbian-associated groups and pages on Facebook to recite all of them, so we went ahead and chose ten that we thought you simply should not overlook. Log into your Facebook account and get ready to do some adding! 

1.     GLEE

GLEEis a show-stopper with over 1,961,227 fans and a glowing photo of out lesbian Jane Lynch on the main page.  Is there really any wonder why the GLEE Facebook page is number one on our list for 2010?  Wait, I hear a <whistle blowing>…..

2.     The Ellen Degeneres Show

The Ellen Degeneres Show page contains over 1,859,516 fans!  Ellen has long been a lesbian favorite and now with Facebook in the mix, she has taken off more than ever!  How many lesbians does it take to laugh at an Ellen Degeneres joke?  Let’s start with the 1,859,516 and go from there!

3.     Let Constance Take Her Girlfriend to Prom!

Let Constance Take Her Girlfriend to Prom has taken off like Elton John’s “rocket man”.  The gay and lesbian media has been covering Constance and her fight to be allowed to go to her high school prom with her sweetheart (who happened to be a girl).  There have even been “fake” proms created across the country in her honor.  There are over 427,900 people supporting Constance in her fight for not just her prom, but for future ones across the country.

4.     The L Word

The L Word television show may have ended, but the Facebook fan page continues to grow.  Discussion boards are being added every day and, with the upcoming “The Real L Word” show, this original fan page will continue to sprout new lesbian fans everywhere (the current count is around 202,000)!

5.     We Support LGBT Rights! Equality and Freedom for Everyone 

We Support LGBT Rights! Equality and Freedom for Everyone encourages the LGBTQ community to come out of the closet and step into the forefront of political, social and professional life by being out and proud.  Using personal stories and showing that “we are here” is part of the mission on this page.  There are over 45,400 members in this group!

6.     No H8 Campaign

No H8 Campaign is the brain child of celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley.  Their tagline for the No H8 Facebook page is “1,000,000 Strong for NO H8” and they are working their way there with over 45,200 members.  The No H8 Campaign Facebook group is a hit among both gays and lesbians because of the celebrity “wow” factor.

7.     Melissa Etheridge

Melissa Etheridge has taken to Facebook to promote her new album release Fearless Love.  This official fan page for the newly-single Melissa has over 27,000 fans and counting.  View tour news, photos and behind-the-scenes posts from MLE and her band.

8.     Gay & Lesbian Pride

Gay & Lesbian Pride has over 21,500 fans and counting. This popular lesbian Facebook group is anything but in the closet.  In fact, if you were to look for this group, it would be dancing around in the living room, way outside of the closet…in its underwear.  Join it.  Photos encouraged on this social site!

9.     Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” NOW!

Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” NOW! This group has a large lesbian following with activists recording protests, reciting personal stories and sharing their combined willpower for change in America by demanding that “Don’t  Ask, Don’t Tell” be repealed by President Obama.  With over 12,000 fans, you won’t be alone in your frustration, anger and disbelief.  You can get mobilized here for change in the military.

10.  ACLU Nationwide

ACLU Nationwide stands for “American Civil Liberties Union”.  Founded in 1920, Facebook has aided in the long-term projection of this group and what they stand for in the lesbian community.  Keep up-to-date on our fight for equality through the ACLU.  There will be more than 31,100 people joining you!
