We’ve known Barbie Ferreira won’t be returning to Euphoria for its eventual third season for some time now, but after months of rumors flying around as to what exactly went down, the actress is clearing the air.

Ferreira’s character, Kat, a fan fic writer-turned-dominatrix, had some fascinating moments in the first season of the HBO hit, but her screen time sort of fizzled out by season two. There was speculation that the actress had some sort of falling out with divisive creator Sam Levinson, leading to her walking off the set, but she pushed back on those claims during a recent episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.

“I actually did not walk off set,” she said. “I did sprain my ankle once and had to go get an X-ray. Maybe that’s what they mean?”

She did acknowledge that Levinson seemed to struggle writing for her character in season two, suggesting he simply doesn’t relate to Kat.

“I think there were places she could have gone. I just don’t think it would have fit into the show,” she continued. “I don’t know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that.”

Although Ferreira said she “would’ve played [Kat] for as long as I was asked to depending on the material was,” it’s clear that material wasn’t there, and she seems at peace with her decision to move on from something that was no longer a good fit.

“When people ask me about season two, it’s usually they come at me with like, I was some sort of victim to season two and I’m always like, ‘No, it’s okay, promise. It’s good.’ I kind of got sucked into this drama that I never asked to be in and that I’ve never talked about,” she said. “Don’t believe everything you read.”

It’s unclear when season Euphoria will return for season three, and Levinson’s latest series is already stirring up its own pile of drama, but with multiple projects in the pipeline already, Ferreira herself is going to be just fine.
