In an attempt to game the system, Victorious and Now Apocalypse star Avan Jogia shared a thirst trap on TikTok to promote his new movie - and the tactic has fans in heat – but also giggling.
He posted a 30-second clip to TikTok that begins with shirtless and gym videos. About eight-seconds in, he pops on screen to say "Is that good enough for you? Did we do it? The thirst trap? Okay, now go watch Door Mouse." He then encourages fans to pre-order it on iTunes or find a cinema that's playing it. "This is what we have to do now." The lowkey bitter caption reads, "Trying to convince the algorithm that what I make has value."
@avan.jogiaTrying to convince the algorithm that what I make has value. Go pre order Door Mouse.
While Jogia is commenting on our thirsty clickbait culture, the tactic worked. The video currently has over 400,000 views on TikTok and has gone viral on other social media platforms. "You know what…. You got me, I think I will watch entryway vermin or whatever you said," one comment reads.
On the bright side, fans are talking about his new film!
As he said in the video, Jogia wrote and directed Door Mouse. The official description reads:
"In this gritty super-stylish thriller, Mouse is an irreverent dancer at a dead-end burlesque club run by Mama , a tough, shady club owner. When Mouse’s only friends and fellow club dancers go missing under mysterious circumstances, nobody at the club seems too concerned about them, and the police couldn’t care less. Mouse and her constant sidekick Ugly quickly realize that it is up to them to dig up all the dirt and start the hunt for the culprits. Desperate for answers and with time running out, Mouse chooses a very risky play that plunges her further down the rabbit hole and into a sordid underworld, leaving her out in the open. What she discovers is that corruption runs deep, monsters are real, and that sometimes, justice is meant to be taken into your own hands."
Jogia stars in the movie as Mooney alongside Hayley Law, Famke Janssen, and Donal Logue.
Door Mouse is now available to watch on Vudu, Prime Video or Redbox. Watch the trailer below:
