The take on D.H. Lawrence’s novel is coming to the big and small screens!

The official description reads:

“Based on the classic D.H. Lawrence novel, a story well ahead of its time, we follow the life of Lady Chatterley, a woman born to a life of wealth and privilege, who soon finds herself married to a man that she eventually falls out of love with. Lady Chatterley engages in a torrid affair with a gamekeeper on their English estate, discovering more desire and intimacy than she thought possible. When she realizes that she has fallen heart and soul, she breaks all traditions of the day and seeks happiness with the man she loves.”

The film is pointedly from Lady Chatterley’s point of view, a skewed take on the original text according to producer Laurence Mark. “The idea was to take a fresh, modern look at the D.H. Lawrence classic and have it be told primarily from Lady Chatterley’s point of view, which I don’t believe has ever really been done.”

Corrin leads the film alongside Jack O’Connell, Matthew Duckett, and Joely Richardson. French actor Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre is directing the film and Life Of Pi screenwriter David Magee wrote the script.

Clermont-Tonnerre was a fan of the novel before coming onto the film and loved that it strives to glorify “sexuality instead of being ashamed of it,” she says, commending the original author. Few male writers address female sexual pleasure and “that’s why it was so scandalous. But it was in the sense of really glorifying the revitalization of human beings through connections, sensuality, nature. And it was very avant-garde. No one was really ready to accept it. And we are not fully ready yet to accept it today.”

Lady Chatterley's Lover premieres on November 23 in select US Theaters and on December 2 on Netflix. Scroll through our first look images below. All photos are courtesy of Netflix.
