Already being hailed by critics as a Paris Is Burning for millennials, Kiki is an upcoming feature-length documentary about New York's longstanding ballroom culture, a scene that was started by and comprised mostly of Black and Latino LGBTQ people.
While we have to wait until the end of the month when it's released to see the whole thing, from the looks of the trailer alone, it's going to be an exciting and worthwhile documentary to watch, especially considering the diversity of the film's subjects. Gay media is always overwhelmingly white, so it will be nice to see more QPOC get the mainstream spotlight they so rightfully deserve because of their contributions to LGBT culture at large.
