Timothée Chalamet may not have won the Oscar last year for Call Me By Your Name, but there’s already talk that he may snag it this year for Beautiful Boy.
This past weekend, Amazon Studios released a teaser for Beautiful Boy, where Chalamet plays Nic, a struggling meth addict. Steve Carell plays Nic’s father, who seems confused by the man his son is becoming.
“I’m attracted to craziness and you’re just embarrassed because I was like, this amazing thing, like your special creation or something and you don’t like who I am now,” Nic tells his father at a diner.
“Who are you, Nic?”
“This is me, dad. This is who I am.”
The film is based on the memoir Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction by David Sheff. Like the book, the film chronicles the author’s struggles with his son’s addiction to methamphetamine.
The film is directed by Felix Van Groeningen and also has Brad Pitt as a producer.
Beautiful Boy will come to theaters October 12.
