This January, Gina Rodriguez picked up the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for her portrayal of a woman whose appointment with her gynecologist goes completely wrong in Jane the Virgin. This was a momentous victory for Gina, the only Latina actress nominated that night, and a serious triumph for The CW as well, which had never won a major award at either the Emmys or the Golden Globes. But even more importantly, it provided a moment for Gina to passionately and personally shed a light on the necessity of positive portrayals of Latinos in entertainment, which the industry is presently severely lacking. We all totally fell for her, and now her network is hoping the Emmys will too with this emotional, unique campaign. Instead of using critics' quotes to promote her for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, her campaign is comprised of some of her most inspirational quotes, including comments on culture, body image, and her childhood. We're getting a little emotional ourselves over this angle and could totally get behind not only a Gina Rodriguez Emmy nomination, but a win as well!
