From the season premiere to the finish Kacy and Cori’s storyline remained steadfast on the process of their having a baby. The season ended with Cori becoming inseminated. Last September the couple announced via Kacy’s blog that the couple was expecting. Now, Kacy has taken to her blog again to inform fans of the sad news that they lost the baby, a girl they named Charlie Monroe Boccumini, on Christmas Eve of 2011, five months into Cori’s pregnancy.

The second season of Showtime’s The Real L Word introduced viewers to Kacy and Cori Boccumini, a lesbian couple beginning their journey of starting a family.

“As most of you know, my beautiful wife got pregnant in August of 2011.  After 7 months of trying, we were blessed with an angel.  We received all of your congratulations and support along the way, and we knew that the child that grew inside of her was a shared joy for all of us,” Kacy writes on her blog.

Kacy then goes into the details of the complications with Cori’s pregnancy –that Cori was diagnosed with a condition called “Incompetent (weakened) Cervix,” which means the cervix is not strong enough to sustain the weight of pregnancy. Following several harrowing days in December during which there were complications and Cori was placed on bed rest, she began to deliver early on Christmas Eve.

“On Saturday, December 24th, despite all attempts, Cori’s water broke.  We knew that there was nothing else we could do to save our baby girl.  She was delivering early, and she was too little to survive outside of the womb,” Kacy writes.

The couple was able to share a moment with their baby girl that they will cherish forever, Kacy explains.

“We didn’t cry the entire time she was with us – just cherished the very miracle she was, and the time we had with her,” she wrote.  “She made us mothers, made us a family, and although the ending in this lifetime is a sad one, we carry her with us always until we are reunited.”

Kacy writes that they are heartbroken over their loss but that they are taking things piece by piece.  “The journey is a long one… a hard dark road,” she writes.  “We have each other, and it is that fact that makes another day possible. And so we take one more breath, in and out…”
