In a bit of pitch-perfect casting news, the amazing Dolly Parton will hit the big screen for the first time since 1992’s Straight Talk, with none other than Queen Latifah, in the film Joyful Noise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The two titans in their own right will play women who team up to save their town’s gospel choir on the brink of closing down.

Dolly’s character is the former choir director’s widow, while Queen plays a mom to two teenagers, who is appointed director of the Pacashau Gospel Choir.

The man behind the indie favorite Camp, Todd Graff, is writing and directing the film.

Queen was nominated for an Oscar for Chicago and Dolly became an instant audience favorite turning in funny and heartrending performances in Nine to Five and Steel Magnolias.

Personally, I can’t wait, and I’ll be downloading the soundtrack as soon as it drops on iTunes.
