After Showtime’s groundbreaking lesbian drama The L Word wrapped its run, Jane Lynch co starred opposite Meryl Streep in the boxoffice hit Julie & Julia, a role for which she’s generating supporting actress Oscar buzz.
But that’s nothing compared to the incredible success she’s found as snarky cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on Fox’s freshman musical dramedy hit Glee.
In addition to making life miserable for the kids in Glee as well as her very own Cheerios, Lynch is “campaigning” to series creator/writer Ryan Murphy and company to let her sing, according toEntertainment Weekly.
During the short interview, Lynch confesses that the song that’s in “Sue Sylvester’s heart” is Charlene’s 1982 hit “I’ve Never Been to Me.”
Lynch later told NPR’s “Fresh Air” during an interview that she really hopes to sing on the show. “I’m humming all the time on the set auditioning,” she said.
Lynch also discusses in the interview how she landed the role and what her favorite “You think that’s hard” one-liners are — in addition to discussing the singing she did in The 40-Year-Old Virgin opposite Steve Carell.
What songs would you like to see Lynch sing? Think Melissa Etheridge too much of a stereotype?
