Ellen Degeneres is an icon and it's great to see the rest of the world recognizing her for that. Last night, she was awarded the Favorite Humanitarian Award at the People's Choice Awards. She was introduced by the one and only Melissa McCarthy (also an icon, obvs).

Degeneres shared a cute moment with her wife Portia before making it to the stage to accept her award. On stage, she said, "It's a little strange to actually get an award for being nice and generous and kind, which is what we're all supposed to do with one another. That's the point of being a human."
