He also says America is “becoming dumber by the minute”

If you’re a fan of The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas, or any movie or TV show that has Michael Imperioli, you are henceforth only allowed to watch anything with him if you don’t identify as a bigot or a homophobe (which, since you’re here, we assume you don’t!)

In response to the Supreme Court decision to protect Colorado web designer Lorie Smith who refuses to do gay wedding websites, Imperioli has joined in the mass backlash that has occurred in the wake of the ruling.

“I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas or any movie or TV show I’ve been in,” the actor wrote in a post on Instagram. “Thank you Supreme Court for allowing me to discriminate and exclude those who I don’t agree with and am opposed to. USA! USA!”

Imperioli also doubled down on his stance in the comments, both continuing with “hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view” and “America is becoming dumber by the minute” on his own and engaging with commenters who both agreed and disagreed with his stance.

The Supreme Court ruling is a major blow to LGBTQ+ protections and comes among a mass of anti-LGBTQ+ bills being introduced. The 6-3 decision said that “the First Amendment prohibits Colorado from forcing a website designer to create expressive designs speaking messages with which the designer disagrees.”

Made worse is the fact that the request Smith cited for the gay wedding was illegitimate, as the person named in the case, known only as “Stewart,” said he never made such a request.

“I was incredibly surprised given the fact that I’ve been happily married to a woman for the last 15 years,” he said.
