Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer" has permeated the air waves for the past couple months. With lyrics such as "I'm a little curious too / Tell me if it's wrong / If it's right / I don't care," several have speculated if the song is Lovato's way of
coming out as something other than straight.
In an interview on Chatty Man, Lovato declared that she's "definitely not denying" the rumors. The show's host, openly gay Alan Carr, joked with her that he experimented once and "got stuck" in gay mode. Lovato's response, "I didn't say it didn't stick either." That leading double negative will certainly fan the fire that was first set with Lovato's genuine portrayal of a
lesbian character on Glee (talk about fans wishing life would imitate art).
When Carr more blatantly asked if she'd ever gone "Cool for the Summer" herself, Lovato replied that the song's lyrics are all derived from personal experience.
During the interview, Lovato also alluded to the behind-the-scenes lives of Disney stars, saying, "there was a lot that went on behind the curtains. And we just never showed it."
The interview will air tonight on
Channel 4 in the UK, so keep an eye out for the video. Meanwhile, heat up with "Cool for the Summer."
