Ruby Rose Shuts Down Gender Binaries at Sunday's MTV EMAs

Rose addressed the audience in the coolest way.

Whether or not you tuned in last night to MTV's EMAs, you want to hear about how much the amazing Ruby Rose kicked some new international hosting goals by openly rejecting the gender binary in her opening lines for the show.

The show, which she co-hosted with singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, took place at Milan's Mediolanum Forum. Prior to the show Rose had been posting photos of the location and her prep for the big event on her Instagram account.

Rose has long been open about her non-binary gender expression and identity, talking about how her thoughts about it have evolved over time, including on the MTV network. And so, it should come as no surprise to any fans or keen observers that she used the first few lines she opened with to directly address the audience and gender binaries with the line “Ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between.”

The awards went by with a little amusing clunky delivery from co-host Sheeran, whose musical performance has been talked about as a highlight of the event. And Justin Beiber was a big winner at the event, taking home 5 awards, including 'Best Looks' for which he adorably thanked his mom. The singer's performance of 'What Do You Mean' has also been talked about.

From us here, we appreciate you for including all our identities in your address, Ruby Rose. Just as much as twitter has in the moments since!
