WATCH: Meryl Streep Learned Guitar in Ricki and the Flash

At 66, she refuses to phone it in.

We're filing this under "There's Nothing Meryl Streep Can't Do." You'd think that after winning three Oscars, eight Golden Globes, and two Emmy Awards she might be tempted to phone it in once in a while, but she remains ever the most dedicated of actresses. For her upcoming film, Ricki and the Flash, about a rocker mom who leaves her family behind to pursue her music career, Meryl learned to play the guitar, and she's good! This should come as no surpise considering she learned to speak Polish for Sophie's Choice and she learned to play the violin for Music of the Heart, but it's still an astounding feat of dedication.

The not-to-be-missed clip below is of Meryl playing guitar and singing a new tune by the wonderful queer-girl fave Jenny Lewis. Mery's daughter Mamie Gummer, who plays her estranged daughter in the film, and her Sophie's Choice costar Kevin Kline (playing Ricki's ex-husband) are also in the clip.

As for the movie as a whole, Juno screewriter Diablo Cody wrote the script while Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia) helmed it. Rest assured, we'll be at a matinee when Ricki and the Flash opens on Aug. 7.

For now, here's singer/guitarist Meryl Streep.
