Dixie Chick Natalie Maines Has Great Taste in Women: Reveals Girl Crush on Rachel Maddow

We've enjoyed having Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines on the right side of history since she and her bandmates took a conservative beating for critiquing George W. Bush's unnecessary war in Iraq. And now, as the 38-year-old Texan releases her first solo album, Mother, she's opening up about her own lesbian-loving tendencies.

Now, don't get too excited, but Maines, who is a married mother of two, revealed that she has a serious girl crush on out MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow in an interview with PrideSource's Chris Azzopardi

First, Maines weighed in on her punky new haircut, which she acknowledged gives off a particularly queer vibe, but is also a matter of practicality.

"With two kids, there's not enough time in the day to spend on what I look like; this is a much easier look," explained Maines. "And it fits my personality more. I had short hair growing up, and it always felt right for me."

Azzopardi asks if the new 'do has impacted her lesbian street-cred.

"[Laughs] I barely leave my house. So maybe," replied Maines. "But the lesbians liked me already! Yeah, this is definitely a lesbianish haircut I've got going on. I don't mind. I love Rachel Maddow. She would be my lesbian girl crush… She's hot! And she's smart and beautiful ... and I like her hair."

We completely agree, Mrs. Maines. Now we're just waiting for a musical and spoken-word collaboration between the two.
