6 New Things We Learned About Gus Kenworthy From His Attitude Interview

Gus Kenworthy, Olympic freeskier and every gay man’s dream boyfriend, was just interviewed by Attitude Magazine. In the interview, he opened up about what it was like being a closeted athlete, how he’s he handling his new fame, and why he’s putting his shirt back on after bedazzling us with half-naked Instagram pics.
In case you weren’t already obsessed with him, be prepared to join the club.
Here are six things we learned about Gus Kenworthy from his recent interview with Attitude.
1. He’ll do his best to respond to your email, if you’re struggling with your coming out journey
He tries to connect with guys who are still in the closet and are going through similar struggles he experienced being a gay athlete.
2. The reason he’s cooling it with the shirtless pics is so he’s not type-cast
He doesn’t want all the emphasis to be on his body. As Gus said, “It feels good to have a bit of validation but it’s very vain!” There’s more to him than his looks (and insanely talented skiing abilities).
3. Just a handful of people knew he was gay before his ESPN interview
Just his parents and a couple of close friends and skiers knew that he was gay before he came out publicly. Part of the reason he agreed to do the ESPN interview, was so he could come out to the world on his own terms, once and for all.
4. He wants to be a public role model for LGBT youth in sports, but also wants to have parts of his life kept private
He said, “I think there’s a happy medium, where I want to be open and honest and share things with people that support me, but there are also certain things I do want to keep private.” He gave the example of the new guy he’s seeing, and how he doesn’t want to go public with his relationship, fearing that it can only complicate things.
5. He’s tired of receiving unsolicited dick pics
Seriously, guys? A cute guy comes out so we literally just email him dick pics? Whoever you are, please stop sending Gus dick picks unless he specifically asks for them.
6. He’s American AND British
Happy 239th birthday, America! You old but you still hot af girl. #partyintheusa #merica

Gus was actually born in the UK, in Chelmsford, Essex but his family moved to the States after a year. Doesn’t being British somehow make him even hotter?
