5 Things We Would Buy If We Didn't Have to Deal with Student Loans

Student loans. It’s a thing many young people in this day-and-age know about all too well, and while it may seem like there is no end in sight when it comes to the ever-rising cost of higher education, 2016 Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has a plan to hopefully help alleviate it.hillaryclinton

On Monday, Hillary announced a proposal that seeks to help undergrads going to public schools pay for their education without having to take on any debt from loans, and while the notion still has a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum split, we’d like to think of it as a step in the right direction, especially since the issue is often skirted around by major politicians.

If Hillary’s proposal was to ever come to fruition, not only would kids going to public schools be able to actually afford to go to college without having a looming expense after graduation, but there would be so much more money for them to spend on things they could actually want and need once they get a job. The possibilities are endless, but here are some things we would love to buy with the money we would save from not having any college debt.

1. A house.

Because so many more young people are in debt, they are cutting extra costs in any way they can, and that means living under their parents’ roofs for as long as possible. If college debt was eliminated somehow, people could actually afford to live on their own.newhouse

2. A car.

In the same way that young people are holding off on finding their own place, they are also holding off on buying a nice new whip post grad because they can’t afford to make payments in addition to the ones they make on student loans. Sure, we probs wouldn’t buy a $320,000 Ferrari like the one Kylie Jenner just got for her 18th bday, but it’d still be nice to get a new set of wheels. The old hoopty we drove around in college is getting really old, really fast.newcar

3. A nice vacation.

When it comes time to pay back student loans, a fabulous vacation is the last thing on the mind. But, with HRC’s proposal, we could use the saved money to go on a super long vacation to an exotic location with no outside distractions — especially ones having to do with debt.mimosabeach

4. A new wardrobe.

Who has the time (or money) to think about shopping when there is so much work to do to pay off your loans?!? If the student debt crisis could somehow be solved, say goodbye to bills and hello to a fabulous set of new clothes we all know we deserve.shopping

5. Another degree.

Maybe if school was less expensive, and we didn’t need to take out as many loans, we could actually afford to keep going to school and getting higher degrees.  (If we choose to, of course). Especially since a lot of professionals now argue if a bachelor’s degree is really worth what it used to, and the real opportunities start to come with a master’s degree or higher.graduation
