Guyswon medals too...blah blah blah. Now back to the women athletes.
Canada's women's hockey team demolished Slovakia 18-0 and Team USA did almost the same with a 12-1 victory over China. Let's just go ahead and say what we're all thinking...gold medal match with Canada pitted against the United States. What a game to watch.
Speaking of watching, I was checking out the 3,000 meter women's speed skating last night and there was this shot of Canadian Donald Sutherland chuckling and looking at the women. It might have been a little projection on my part but I was thinking they all looked like superheroes in their tight suits. But Donald sure looked creepy, I tell ya.
What was that? Yes, medals for my superheroes.
Gold-Czech Republic, Martina Sablikova
Silver-Germany, Stephanie Beckart
Bronze-Canada, Kristina Groves
Stay tuned for more Olympics' coverage. They've started the figure skating...short program my ass. I think they've got way too much coverage of this, but I'll keep that for another column.
I will leave you with this bit of trivia I've always wondered about:
Why don't figure skaters get dizzy doing all those spins?
Short answer: Experienced ice skaters work on their spins for years and over time they become desensitized to that feeling of dizziness. Olympic skater Sasha Cohen says she's so used to spinning that she never gets dizzy. Has it ruined roller coasters for her? I wonder...
I also wonder if the boys in the luge-lycra "tuck"...anyone???
