Blackpink is entering a new era with their second album, and Lisa opened up about where the group is headed in a recent interview.

The K-pop group has been killing it since bursting onto the scene in 2016, but took a bit of a hiatus after releasing their debut studio album in 2020.

Lisa spoke with CR Fashion Book about how she spent that break, noting, “I’ve also been working on music, as well as other fields that I’m interested in, such as fashion and photography, in order to improve myself as an artist.”

In fact, she recently had her runway debut with CELINE by Hedi Slimane, which she called a “great honor,” despite her nerves over not being a professional model.

“I was worried at first so I practiced walking a lot in order to accentuate the clothes,” Lisa admitted.

But as much as she seemed to enjoy the pivot towards fashion, gearing up for Blackpink’s return to music has still been the main focus.

“Before our comebacks, we always get into lengthy conversations about what we can do to improve,” she said. “We try to bring the best outcomes by discussing our thoughts on music videos, outfits, choreography, and even the littlest details such as hair colors.”

Whatever they’ve been doing seems to be paying off, as their new album, Born Pink, has already hit #1 in the UK. This makes Blackpink the first female K-pop group to manage such a feat.

The singer expressed gratitude towards the fans for getting so hyped for this new era.

“I think our fans are as excited about our new album as we are,” she said. “Their reactions are one of my biggest motivations. Their constant support always inspires me to aim for the better.”
