What a better way to celebrate the end of the week than with a surprise new music video from Hayley Kiyoko??
With a month to go before the tour for her sophomore album, Panorama, the singer blessed fans with a new collaboration between her, Steve Aoki, and Galantis called “Hungry Heart.”
Kiyoko teased the new music hours before its release on Thursday night, writing, “remembering when I hung out with this girl one time and the next day started missing her like crazy and felt like my heart couldn’t go on without her so I wrote a song about it.”
“plot twist,” she added, “she is now my gf.”
The girlfriend in question, is, of course, Becca Tilley, who the “Girls Like Girls” singer dated quietly for four years before going public with their relationship last summer.
As for “Hungry Heart,” the collaborators surprised everyone by dropping not only the song, but a music video to go along with it via Aoki’s YouTube channel.
The way in which it was shot allows the viewer to take on the role of the person Kiyoko is singing to, as she proclaims, “You always leave me with a hungry heart / ‘Cause all I think about is think about is you / Every time you leave I always fall apart / ‘Cause all I think about is think about is you.”
So if having Kiyoko stare through the screen and directly into your soul while singing about how the “dark nights and hard times only make me want you more” seems like your jam, you’re definitely going to want to check this one out!
