Taylor Swift has finally announced what will be her first tour in five years, and fans are giddy with anticipation.
There has been significant speculation as to how, exactly, Swift would approach a new tour, having released a whopping four brand new albums — in addition to her re-releases — in the years since she last toured with Reputation in 2018.
Originally, she was set to hit both coasts in the U.S. with LoverFest, a performance based around her seventh studio album, Lover, but COVID derailed those plans, and rescheduling didn’t work out the way she had hoped.
Rather than try to come up with a way to combine Lover, Folklore, evermore, and her most recently released album, Midnights, Swift has decided to embark on an Eras tour, described as a “journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”
Although only the U.S. leg of the tour has been announced so far, 20 cities will be included from March to August 2023 — a far cry from LoverFest, which planned to only include two U.S. cities, one in the east and one in the west.
Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN have all been announced as opening acts that will vary based on the location.
And of particular interest to Swifties is the announcement on pricing — tickets will start at $49 and go up to $449, with VIP packages priced at $199 to $899. While they could definitely set fans back a good amount even before Ticketmaster fees or resale comes into play, seemingly getting rid of Ticketmaster’s variably priced “platinum tickets” should be a welcome relief (via Variety).
If you want to snag tickets for Swift’s Eras tour, you’ll have to register with Ticketmaster by November 9, with tickets officially going on sale on November 15.
