Watch: President Obama Discusses Women in Combat and Ending Boy Scouts Gay Ban

President Obama affirmed his opposition to the Boy Scouts ban on openly gay scouts and troop leaders in an interview on Sunday with CBS Evening News.

President Obama discussed women in combat and affirmed his opposition to the Boy Scouts ban on openly gay scouts and troop leaders in an interview on Sunday with CBS Evening News.

Scott Pelley asked Obama if scouting should be opening to gays and the president responded with an emphatic, "Yes."

When asked why, Obama said, "Gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does in every institution and walk of life, and the Scouts are a great institution that are promoting young people and exposing them to opportunites and leadership that will serve people for the rest of their lives, and nobody should be barred from that."
