Good morning Upper East Siders! If you're anything like us and have been foaming at the mouth for any updates regarding HBO Max's highly-anticipated Gossip Girl reboot, well then you're in luck! After the cast appeared on the cover of Cosmo's May/June issue, the premiere month for Gossip Girl was also just officially announced today, and it's going to be hitting our screens sooner than you think!

"Good afternoon, followers. I need no introduction, but these New York elite do," the official GG Twitter account said in an announcement earlier today. "Pleased to present your newest obsession — coming to @hbomaxthis July. Clear your calendars accordingly."

GG's executive producer Josh Safran also took to Twitter to announce the upcoming release, saying "Oh hi also: show drops in July."

"This time around the leads are nonwhite," Safran said in a 2019 Vulture interview about the new, more inclusive look to the series. "There’s a lot of queer content on this show. It is very much dealing with the way the world looks now, where wealth and privilege come from, and how you handle that."

According to a 2020 Deadline report earlier from last year, the streaming service's version of the long-running teen drama franchise that rose to prominence in the 2000s will begin "eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl."

"The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years."

The 2021 series will star a stacked cast that includes Emily Alyn Lind, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Adam Chanler-Berat, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, Johnathan Fernandez, and Jason Gotay.

Gossip Girl premieres this July on HBO Max!
