World Cup Fashion: The Craziest Dressed Super-Fans From Around The World
I remember being a little girl and learning about Pelé the soccer great. I envisioned myself in Brazil playing with makeshift balls made of inspiration and tightly rolled newspaper and promised myself that I would never let anything stand in the way of my dream to become Pelé.
This is definitely a spolier alert, but I never became Pelé. Partly because I was a terrible soccer player and mostly because I was a terrible soccer player. In all seriousness I agreed to play goalie for the outfits. I loved the loud jersey's and spray painted cleats. I wore neon yellow gloves and I would spit into them because supposedly that, and not my lesbianism, would help stop the balls. I rebelled against the heart-stopping decision every time on if I was gonna run out and throw myself on the ball like some sort of animal, being raised in a suburb-farmyard, to try to stop a flying object from hurling towards my face; all in the name of being able to wear the outfit the next time.
We broke up -- soccer and I. But with the return of the Professional Women's Soccer League, the excitement of the US Women's team soaring to new heights of popularity in the Women's World Cup; the rabidness in which fans flock to the games. The World Cup is rallying so much excitement even I can't help but catch the buzz again.
As I flipped through some world cup fan outfits I am amazed by how each country incorporates their cultures and colors into their looks. I begin to remember being that little tomboy on the line who showed much pizazz. Just like these fans from around the world. Just like Pelé.
