The Brothers Osborne are breaking records at the Country Music Association Awards!
On Wednesday, November 9, the Brothers Osborne won their fifth CMA Award for “Vocal Duo of the Year.” They are now tied for the second most-awarded duo in this particular category.
The Brothers Osborne duo consists of out gay singer TJ Osborne and his brother, John Osborne. Aside from now having won a total of six CMAs, the Brothers Osborne also won their first-ever Grammy in 2022 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
TJ said during his acceptance speech at the 2022 CMAs, “To be here tonight, and to be in the presence of Wynonna [Judd], while winning this award, will be one of the biggest highlights of my entire life. This is so crazy to me.” He then thanked the Country Music Association and their fans.
Following the Brothers Osborne’s first Grammy win, TJ personally thanked his boyfriend on the stage – something that was considered truly historic to come out in the acceptance of a man in country music. Since then, TJ has become somewhat of a poster child for fighting back certain prejudices within this genre of music.
