Supergirl may be over, but Nia Nal lives on.

Four years after debuting on the CW’s Supergirl, fan favorite hero Dreamer has finally made her first appearance in the mainstream DC Universe!

Dreamer was created specifically to join Supergirl during its fourth season. She was introduced as Nia Nal, an alien living on earth who inherits the power of premonition through dreams — a gift that is made even more meaningful as it is passed down through maternal lineage, and Nia herself is trans.

The character made such a splash in the TV series that she received a special comic book of her own as part of DC’s 2021 Pride collection. And that went over well enough that Dreamer is now being brought into the proper DC continuity with Superman: Son of Kal-El #13.

The issue sees Dreamer teaming up with current Superman Jon Kent and his boyfriend, Jay, to warn them about a new premonition of something terrible to come.

Dreamer’s main continuity debut is particularly special because it sees Nicole Maines, who played Nia in Supergirl, join up with veteran comic writer Tom Taylor to pen the issue. Maines also served as the writer for Dreamer’s entry in the 2021 Pride anthology and has been tapped to write a graphic novel for the hero as well.

“This is so weird. The response to #DreamersDebut in SOKE is already so fantastic,” Maines said on Twitter after the issue reached #1 on Amazon. “I don’t know how to express myself. Thank you. I’m at a loss for words.”

She also took a moment to tease her excitement for “what’s next,” leaving fans hanging with a note that she knows exactly what that is but “can’t give any hints.”

Whatever it is, Dreamer’s ever-growing legion of fans are ready!
