WATCH: Pediatrician Refuses to Treat 6-Day-Old Baby Born to Lesbian Parents
A pediatrician in Michigan refused to treat a six-day-old baby because the baby was born to lesbian parents Krista and Jami Contreras, according to the Detroit Free Press. When the Contreras's took their baby in for a routine wellness check-up with Dr. Vesna Roi another doctor informed the parents that Dr. Roi could not treat their baby as "much prayer" led her to refuse them as patients.
It's been four months since the incident but the moms explain in the video below that they feel it is important for them to speak up as Michigan does not have protections in place guarding against discrimination based on sexual orientation.
