Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker are set to star in Sidney Kimmel Entertainment's road-trip comedy Cloudburst. Thom Fitzgerald wrote the script, and will also be directing.
With Sidney Kimmel Entertainment financing Cloudburst, Fitzgerald and Doug Pettigrew are producing and William Jarblum is the executive producer. Production starts in Nova Scotia later this month.
The story focuses on a lesbian couple who have spent over 30 years living as lovers. One of the women had been committed to a nursing facility, and the couple decides to bust out.
Most recently, Dukakis starred with Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent in Away From Her. In Richard Attenborough's Closing the Ring Fricker co-starred with Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer. Fitzgerald's latest project was producing and directing The Gospel According to the Blues on Canadian television.
