Ellen Never Thought Shed Have a Wedding

Ellen DeGeneres opens up about her wedding, wife, and big dreams left to conquer; like a farm in the country for her and the Missus'.  "I love to spend time with my wife, my family, my animals... We could get an 1800s farmhouse with land and rescue animals. Then I’m done.”

In the latest issue of Ladies Home Journal, the most loveable lesbian on T.V. opens up about her wedding, wife, and big dreams left to conquer.  Ellen admits she, “never thought I’d have a wedding, and I did, and it meant more than I imagined.”  The comedienne cherishes the memories of her intimate wedding to actress Portia DeRossi and even admits she felt most beautiful,  “The day I got married… It’s just very emotional.”

As for media and societal standards of beauty, the multi-Emmy award winning star feels, “it’s sad to be defined by beauty, because it’s something that goes away and changes. If you’re trying to chase that forever, you’re in trouble…As I’ve aged and matured, I just feel better about myself, more confident and more comfortable in my own skin. As that’s happened, I think I look better than I’ve ever looked, because that’s just what happens when you feel better about yourself.”

Ellen’s wife, Portia, shared a sliver of daily life for the couple, revealing her penchant for leaving half finished beverages around the house. Portia, “was going to thank her in our vows, for picking up all the glasses – and say that she’d have to do that for the rest of her life. She took that on. But she’s very good about it.”

As for her future, the happy newlywed has some surprisingly quiet dreams. The popular talk show host and American Express spokesperson could leave it all behind, claiming she doesn’t,  “need to be on camera. I’m not a workaholic. I love to spend time with my wife, my family, my animals…We’re looking for the right place to have a farm. Someplace like Massachusetts or Nantucket, with seasons. We could get an 1800s farmhouse with land and rescue animals. Then I’m done.”
