Dixie Chick Martie Maguire, 40, is even more appealing to her lesbian following, now that a just released interview with SheWired's sister publication, Out Magazine, has hit the streets.
During the chat, Maguire, who is promoting her new band the Court Yard Hounds, confirms that she doesn't mind the admiration of her Sapphic fans. She even courts it!
And her sister Emily is a little jealous of the attention that her sister is getting from the devotees.
TheCourt Yard Houndsconsists of only Robinson and Maguire. Natalie Maines, the Dixie Chicks lead vocalist, asked the ladies for a little break from the Chicks so the girls decided to go out on their own.
Relax, the Chicks aren't breaking up, they're just taking a little break.
Maguire (and the rest of the Chicks for that matter) have been very outspoken about their support of all Americans, sometimes to the dismay of the conservative country music fan base. They have plans to perform at this year's Lilith Fair and the Hounds self-titled debut album has a track, Ain't No Son, which tells the story of a teenage boy who's struggling with acceptance after coming out of the closet.
Out asks the questions;
Emily always says that you get all the girls? Why do you think you're a "chick" magnet?
I always say that I wink at them. Maybe I appeal. I don't know. It would just turn out that I would have the female, gay following migrate to my side of the stage.
Is she jealous?
Totally.
What else is in store?
We're doing the Lilith Fair tour. The Chicks aren't, but we are. We're a totally different paycheck. But, you know what, I'm happy with that. I'm really hoping that Chicks fans don't feel like they have to choose. They can be Chicks fans and Hounds fans. The reality is Natalie is so happy for us.
