Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper established themselves as gay and lesbian advocates from the outset of their respective careers. Gaga goes out of her way to be a tireless supporter of LGBT equality at every step of her massively popular fresh career while Lauper is long established as an ally and in 2007, founded theTrue Colors tour“to celebrate the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community and advocate for the basic values and freedoms that should be shared by all Americans.”
Now the pop superstars are teaming up as the new faces of 2010’s Viva Glam Mac make-up campaign. Each will have a special edition lipstick named after them. The Viva Glam Cyndi and Viva Glam Gaga lipsticks will be available on March 18 and will retail for $14. All proceeds benefit the MAC AIDS fund, to help men, woman and children affected by HIV/AIDS. The superstar singers will appear on Good Morning America and the Today show this week to promote the launch.
In the ads, the glamorous blondes appear as sexy, retro pin-up girls under the tag-line: “From Our Lips.” Photographed by Ellen Con Unweth, the ads are captioned to read: "You know you've got a sexy voice. Use it! Let's talk about how to keep your love life safer, seductive and satisfying. Just between us girls!"
Gaga and Lauper are the latest additions to the Viva Glam campaign which has already seen the famous faces of the likes of: Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Eve, Lil’ Kim, Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese, Missy Elliot, Fergie, Shirley Manson and Elton since it’s inception in 1994.
