Conservatives Are Big Mad Over Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce... For Reasons?

Taylor Swift is one of the most well-known musicians in the world, but has drawn conservative backlash since she declared her opposition to former President Donald Trump while aligning herself with the pro-choice movement.

Right-wingers aren’t huge fans of her rumored boyfriend Kelce either, as he supports vaccines. Referencing commercials Kelce and his mother have participated in to encourage people to get their annual flu shot and Covid booster, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk tweeted: “What will break Kelce’s heart first? The COVID shot or Taylor Swift?”

Tomi Lahren, a conservative commentator, also attacked Kelce’s commercial encouraging public health measures, writing: “Is this what happens when you date Taylor Swift?”

The Federalist, a right-wing publication, used the publicity surrounding the musicians and football player to repromote an article from earlier in the month titled “Taylor Swift’s popularity Is A Sign of Societal Decline.” The article written by Mark Hemingway restated criticism that Swift has faced throughout her career: questioning why she has so many exes, why she writes about them, and why doesn't he, as a middle-aged white male, feel like the primary audience?

Sean Davis, the co-founder of The Federalist, has tweeted the article multiple times once with the caption: “Taylor Swift is and her music sucks.”

Fox News networks hosts have also nitpicked through the situation. Lawrence Jones told Fox & Friends that three weeks is too soon to introduce a significant other to one’s parents and called the situation “a recipe for disaster.” Outnumbered host Harris Faulkner noted that Swift yelled “the f-bomb” when Kelce scored a touchdown.

“I don’t know if I could do that in front of my husband’s mom when I was dating him,” Faulkner said.
