Secretary of State Hilary Clinton has released a video in honor of Pride month in which she highlights efforts to protect LGBT people and to promote equality for all.
“I am delighted to join you to celebrate the fundamental freedoms that all human beings deserve, no matter who you are or who you love,” Clinton says. “This month and every month we reaffirm our commitment to making sure all human beings are equal in dignity and rights under the law.”
She goes on to say that, “There still is a lot to be done.”
“The LGBT community continues to be persecuted and attacked, often arrested, beaten terrorized, even executed,” Clinton says. “So United States embassies and missions are working to defend the rights of LGBT people of all races, religions and nationalities.”
The Secretary of State then vows to continue to fight for full equality saying, "Until full and equal rights are a reality for everyone our work is not done."
