Kill Bill star Daryl Hannah was arrested in West Virginia on Tuesday for stopping traffic in protest of nearby mountain mining, according to AP
Hannah and several other activists stood their ground and refused to move on when police arrived at a coal processing plant in Raleigh County to disperse the crowd. Protestors sat on the road blocking State Route 3 near a Massey Energy subsidiary's coal processing plan.
The 48-year-old Splash star, former Rep. Ken Hechler and NASA scientist James Hansen were three of the 31 people who were booked on misdemeanor charges of obstruction and impeding traffic.
The arrests occurred after the rally when protestors, to no avail, attempted to enter the plant but were stopped by an armada of coal miners screaming "go home," at which point they decided to sit on the road before eventually surrendering.
According to a news release from the protesters, the group admitted to crossing onto the property of Massey Energy as well as "purposely trespassing to protest the destruction of mountains immediately above the Coal River Valley community."
