Borat lives – again!

Actor Sacha Baron Cohen revived the character at the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors, and no one was safe. From his words, we mean.

George Clooney, Gladys Knight, U2, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Eddie Vedder, Brandi Carlile, Sean Penn, Sheryl Crow, Amy grant, Tania León, and Patti LaBelle were in the audience amongst the U.S. highest ranking public officials, including President Joe Biden.

Baron Cohen reintroduced the iconic Kazakh television journalist character on stage to roast some of the most recent political drama.

"I know the president of US and A is here," Borat said on stage. "Where are you, Mr. Trump?"

He found President Joe Biden in the audience and continued, "You don't look so good," The Guardian reports. "Where has your glorious big belly gone? And your pretty orange skin has become pale."

Borat also had some thoughts about the recent Ye drama. Last week, the disgraced rapper openly shared his admiration for Hitler, denied the Holocaust, and even shocked notorious ring wing cohost Alex Jones (who recently filed for bankruptcy after getting sued for spreading Sandy Hook conspiracy theories) by saying "we’ve got to stop dissing the Nazis all the time.”

Even Borat thought he went too far. "Before I proceed, I will say I am very upset about the antisemitism in US and A. It not fair. Kazakhstan is No. 1 Jew-crushing nation. Stop stealing our hobby. Stop the steal! Stop the steal!"

Baron Cohen went on, "Your Kanye, he tried to move to Kazakhstan and even changed his name to Kazakhstanye West. But we said, 'No, he too antisemitic, even for us.'" Then he reportedly sang a version of U2's "With or Without You" with the lyrics changed to "With or Without Jews."

He then addressed the audience, "What's the problem? They loved this at Mar-a-Lago. They chose 'Without Jews.'"

What countries is Borat banned in?

The 2006 movie was banned in the entire Arab world except for Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates for being "vile, gross and extremely ridiculous."

Did Borat get in trouble?

According to NPR, Baron Cohen has been "chased, sued and nearly arrested" while playing the Borat character. Following his 2020 movie where he had a scary experience at a gun rights rally, Baron Cohen confirmed his "disguise days" are over, saying "At some point, your luck runs out."

Why is Borat rated R?

The film is rated R for pervasive strong crude and sexual content, graphic nudity, and language.
