Watch: Lesley Gore, Fierce Women Tell GOP 'You Don't Own Me'

In a video approved by Leslie Gore herself, a host of famous women and everyday citizens remake Gore's classic 1960s hit "You Don't Own Me," with a message directed squarely at presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his party of Re-thug-licans.

"I recorded 'You Don't Own Me' in 1964," Gore says in the video. "It's hard for me to believe, but we're still fighting for the same things we were then. Yes, ladies, we've gotta come together, get out there, and vote and protect our bodies — they're ours. Please vote."

Lesley Gore is joined by the likes of Lena Dunham, Rain Phoenix, Natasha Lyonne, Justin Vivian Bond, and Carrie Brownstein are just a few of the fabulous women who remind us that our bodies are not political battlegrounds. Interspersed with women lip-synching the song's lyrics, the video highlights facts about women's influence in an election.

Aside from accounting for more than half the population, the video points out that women make up just 16% of Congress, that women still make 70 cents for every dollar a man earns doing the same work, and that Romney doesn't support equal pay or legal, safe access to abortion.
