CA LGBT-Supportive Legislators More Than Triple the Opposition

The number of California legislators who support LGBT rights is more than three times the number of those endorsed by anti-LGBT lobby. Legislators from both sides are rated based on their performance on key votes. Equality California (EQCA) will only endorse those candidates scoring a 100% on the scorecard. In order to achieve a 100%, the candidate must support the LGBT community in its entirety  100% of the time. While there is no room for compromise, there are an astounding 61 legislators on the supportive scorecard, and only 18 legislators given a 100% by The Capitol Resource Institute.

EQCA rates legislators and endorses LGBT-supportive candidates in order to educate voters and help them to vote for equality. In 2007, more than half of the California Legislature voted in favor of LGBT rights 100% of the time, which helped put LGBT Californians on the path to having the strongest civil rights protections in the US.
