Jacquelyn Kennedy of Dewberries Partners With Walgreens For Pride

Walgreens will celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Pride by recognizing contributions of LGBT-owned businesses and community organizations throughout the month of June. Walgreens will celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Pride by recognizing contributions of  LGBT-owned businesses and community organizations throughout the month of June. Nearly 100 locations will carry an exclusive Pride cooler bag, designed by Dewberries Boutique owner and designer -- and our friend -- Jacquelyn Kennedy, as part of the drugstore chain’s Community Corner initiative.

“Walgreens serves a diverse, savvy customer base that wants to support businesses that have a positive impact on communities,” said Walgreens senior director of supplier diversity Gleatha Glispie, according to a release.  “Like the other diverse supplier groups we’ve recognized through the program, the LGBT community is loyal and has strong purchasing power. We feel confident that shoppers will be pleased to see the Pride bag at their neighborhood Walgreens and will recognize the opportunity to support a small, community-built business.”

The 18-pack cooler bag will be available, beginning mid-June, for $19.99 at select locations nationwide, while supplies last. Kennedy is the first member of the LGBT community to be featured in Walgreens’ Community Corner initiative. The bag, complete with a rainbow yin-yang symbol to promote inclusiveness, is perfect for carrying beverages at Pride events.

JEALOUSY

"I wanted to do something that was universal, yet really, really for the LGBT," Kennedy told The Windy City Times.  "Now, when you get into the yin-yang, that could be anybody. There's a little bit of boy and girl in all of us. There's a little bit of masculine energy, but there's feminine energy as well… I just wanted to do something that wasn't so in your face, not so bold, but yet kind of bright."
